A tragic accident unfolded yesterday in the Northern Territory when a light plane crashed into the crocodile-infested waters of Fogg Dam, a well-known conservation reserve.
The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. local time (11:50 a.m. AEST) at Middle Point. Fogg Dam, famous for its lush wetlands, is home to saltwater crocodiles, adding an extra layer of danger to the crash site.
While the 29-year-old woman who was a passenger in the aircraft miraculously survived, she was airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment. Fortunately, she escaped without any injuries.
Sadly, the 63-year-old male pilot did not survive the crash and was found dead inside the aircraft.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine what caused the crash. Our thoughts go out to the pilot's family and loved ones during this difficult time.
