Melbourne woke up to a blanket of heavy fog this morning, throwing travel plans into chaos and slowing things down on the roads.
At Melbourne Airport, dozens of domestic flights were canceled—30, to be exact—leaving plenty of travelers frustrated. Airport officials are warning that delays could continue throughout the day as they work through the morning’s disruptions. If you’re flying, expect to wait an extra 20 to 40 minutes or so.
The fog wasn’t just a headache for flyers. Drivers in Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs had to deal with "dangerous" road conditions thanks to reduced visibility. The State Emergency Service (SES) reminded everyone to slow down, keep a safe distance from the car ahead, and turn on those headlights.
Thankfully, the fog is expected to lift in the next few hours. Until then, whether you’re hitting the road or heading to the airport, it’s best to pack your patience!
